DENVER - Wrapping up day two of the ITA Mountain Region Championship, Boise State's men's tennis team is sending two players to the round of 16. The doubles pair of Kyryll Kryvchun and Blake Bayldon moved on, along with Kryvchun in the singles bracket.
The Broncos began the day with Bayldon and Kryvchun dominating doubles victory over Utah State's Dan Bushamuka and Christian Holmes, 8-1. That puts the pair at an impressive 6-1 this fall in doubles. They'll face off against New Mexico's Stepan Holis and Alexander Maggs in the round of 16.
Later in the day Kryvchun defeat Air Force's Paul Hendrix, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1. He is the first Bronco to reach the round of 16 in singles at the ITA Mountain Regional since Kyle Butters in 2016. Friday, in the round of 16 Kryvchun will square off against Raul Dobai from New Mexico.
Other notables for the Broncos where Simon Arca Costas and Wyatt DeMulling. Arca Costas advanced to the round of 16 in the singles consolation bracket after defeating Denali Kitayama out of Air Force, 6-3, 6-2. He will meet Pedro Fernandez Del Valle from Denver in the next round. DeMulling had one of the more impressive matches of the day in the singles bracket, although he was defeated by Montana's Oisin Shaffrey, he made sure it didn't come easy. He pushed the first set to a tiebreaker where he fell 7-6(2), then 7-5 in the second.
For the rest of the Broncos, Bayldon was defeated by James Davis of Denver, 6-3, 6-2 in singles round of 32. Ryland McDermott and Kemal Karagozoglu were also eliminated in the round of 32 singles consolation.
