THIS WEEK

● WHAT'S HAPPENING: Boise State (15-8, 7-5 MW) returns home after four-straight road matches to host UNLV and New Mexico in Bronco Gym.
● THURSDAY: Boise State opens the week on Thursday night at 7 p.m. (MT) against the UNLV Rebels (13-10, 9-3 MW) ... the Rebels won the first encounter of the year with the Broncos 3-2 in Las Vegas (Oct. 12).
● SATURDAY: The Broncos will wrap up the week with an early match starting at Noon (MT) against the New Mexico Lobos (7-17, 2-10 MW).

BOISE STATE NOTES

BOISE STATE'S RECORD
● Boise State enters week 11 of the season at 15-8 overall and 7-5 (fourth place) in MW play.
● Boise State's three nonconference losses came against teams ranked in the top-21 at the time of the match: at No. 9 BYU, vs. No. 16 Marquette in Provo, Utah, and at No. 21 Missouri.
● Boise State is 0-4 against top-25 teams this season adding a loss to Colorado State to the three nonconference ranked opponents.
●The Broncos are 4-3 at home.

NATIONALLY RANKED
● The Broncos are ranked second nationally and first in the Mountain West for blocks per set at 3.04 and first in league and third nationally for total blocks with 262.0.
● They are fourth in MW in digs per set at 14.34.
● They rank fourth in the MW for opponents' hitting percentage at .186.
● The Broncos have held 14 opponents below 20 percent hitting on the year going 11-3.
● On the year they are 12-5 when leading in blocks and 12-1 with more digs than the opposition.

WALLEY LEADS THE BRONCOS
● After 23 matches, Janell Walley has led the Broncos to its success hitting a team-best 37.3 percent ... she has hit 40 percent or better in eight matches to date and above 30 percent in 13.
● She has tallied a team-high 249 kills, 20 service aces, four block solos and 70 block assists for a team-high 308.0 points on the year.
● Walley is third in the MW and 42nd nationally for hitting percentage (.373), ranks ninth in MW for kills per set (3.07) and fourth in points per set (3.80).
● She had recorded 14 matches on the year in double-figure kills.
● Walley tied her career-high for kills against Middle Tennessee (Sept. 6) with 19 ... then broke it with 23 in the victory over Austin Peay (Sept. 13).
● She has eight double-doubles on the year for a team-high 16 in her career.

DONAHUE ANCHORING THE BLUE WALL
● Last year, Jessica Donahue led the Broncos with 135 blocks to rank 14th in a season all-time at Boise State.
● In 2019 she leads once again with 131 blocks entering the week to rank first in the MW and ninth nationally.
● On the year, she is first in the MW and fourth in NCAA for blocks per set at 1.56.
● In MW play she has a league-high 87 blocks and leads with 1.81 per set ... she has tallied at least six in nine of 12 MW matches and has a high of 12 versus Nevada (Oct. 3).
● Her 12 blocks against Nevada (Oct. 3) was a career-high and tied the school record (rally scoring era) for blocks in a match ... has five career matches with double-figure blocks, four with 10 and one with 12.
● Donahue has 15 contests this season with five or more blocks.
● She is ranked sixth in the MW on the year for hitting percentage at .329.

DONAHUE EYEING BLOCK RECORD
● Sophomore Jessica Donahue is having an outstanding season blocking and is eyeing a potential school record for blocks in a season with 135 entering the week, 34 short of tying the record of 169.

OHLINGER SHINING IN DEBUT SEASON
● True freshman Lauren Ohlinger has the second-most kills on the team with 236 for a 2.74 per set average ... she is fourth on the team in digs with 212 (2.47 dps), fifth in blocks with 52 and second in points with 290.0.
● She had a career-high 19 kills in Boise State's win over Idaho State (Sept. 19), then broke that mark with 22 in the victory at New Mexico (Oct. 3).
● Ohlinger enters the week as one of four Broncos who has recorded a double-double on the season with four.

CHANGING LINEUPS
● To date, 13 different Broncos have earned at least one start (not including libero) in the first 17 contests.
● At this time only Lauren Ohlinger and Danielle Boss have started every match.

HEAD COACH SHAWN GARUS
● Boise State's 3-0 win at Fresno State (Oct. 256) handed coach Garus his 300th career victory.
● Coach Garus entered his 11th season at Boise State and 19th overall just 14 wins shy of 300 career wins at 286
● Garus is 301-259 overall in his 19th year as a collegiate head coach.
● He is currently 193-140 at Boise State in his 11th season.

MATCH PREVIEWS

UNLV PREVIEW
● Boise State hosts UNLV at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Bronco Gym for the second encounter of the year between the Broncos and Rebels.
● UNLV won the first meeting of the year when they rallied from two sets down to beat Boise State 3-2 at Las Vegas on Oct. 12.
● The Rebels enter the week in third place in the league standings at 9-3 and 13-10 overall ... they are coming off a home split last weekend defeating Fresno State 3-1, then lost to San Diego State 3-1 to snap a nine-match win streak.
● UNLV has been hitting 23 percent (3rd MW) and holding its opponents to 22.5 percent (9th MW) ... they are ranked first in the MW and 11th nationally for service aces per set at 1.81.
● The Rebels were picked to place third out of 11 teams in the MW coaches poll.
● Boise State is 12-7 all-time versus UNLV and 10-5 in MW matches.

NEW MEXICO PREVIEW
● The Broncos close the weekend on Saturday at Noon (MT) against the New Mexico Lobos.
● The Broncos won the first meeting at Albuquerque, N.M., 3-1 over the Lobos on Oct. 10.
● New Mexico enters the week at 7-17 overall and 2-10 in MW, tied for 10th ... the Lobos are coming off a home split falling to San Diego State 3-1, then beat Fresno State 3-2.
● UNM is hitting 17.9 percent (8th MW) on the year and holding opponents to 22.3 percent (8th MW).
● The Broncos are 7-9 all-time against the Lobos and 7-8 in MW play.
● New Mexico was predicted to place 7th in the 2019 MW race out of 11 teams.
