Boise State men's basketball takes on UTEP Wednesday, in the fifth-place game of the 2019 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. Tipoff is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. HT/1:30 p.m. MT at the Stan Sheriff Center.

ABOUT THE MINERS:Â UTEP is 9-3 on the season and coming off a 71-70 win against Ball State Monday, after falling to Hawaii 67-63 in the first round of the tournament. The Miners are led by former Fresno State head coach Rodney Terry and forward Bryson Williams, who was an All-Mountain West performer at Fresno State before transferring to UTEP. Williams is averaging 20.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY: The all-time series between Boise State and UTEP is tied 6-6. The Broncos won the last meeting, Nov. 16, 2017, in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Myrtle Beach. The programs were both members of the Western Athletic Conference for four seasons (2002-05) and met 11 times, including three times in the WAC Tournament.
ON CHRISTMAS DAY: Wednesday will mark the second time in program history Boise State men's basketball has played on Christmas Day. The Broncos are 0-1, previously falling to No. 14 Iowa State (70-66) in the championship game of the 2013 Diamond Head Classic.
CRASH THE BOARDS: Senior guard Marcus Dickinson led the Broncos with a career-high nine rebounds against Portland (Dec. 23). Dickinson grabbed three offensive boards and six on the defensive end to lead Boise State on the glass for the second time in his career. Dickinson helped the Broncos outrebound the Pilots by 13, holding true to a point of emphasis entering the game after being outrebounded by 16 against Georgia Tech (Dec. 22).
BRONCOS ADD DOUTRIVE: Former top-75 recruit Devonaire Doutrive (pronounced DEV-in-air / DO-treev) signed a financial aid agreement to join the Boise State men's basketball program and will enroll for the spring semester. The 6-foot-5 Doutrive played in 29 games at Arizona during his three semesters with the Wildcats. Doutrive, a Dallas, Texas native, will be eligible to compete for the Broncos at the conclusion of the fall 2020 semester, with three semesters of competition remaining.
