Boise State (22-5, 2-3 MW) hit four home runs on the day, but misses the sweep over San Diego State (15-15, 3-2 MW)

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State hit four home runs on the day to split Friday's doubleheader against San Diego State.

Following six-straight weeks of playing games on the road to open the season, the Broncos (22-5, 2-3 MW) played their first games at Dona Larsen Park of the season. Boise State opened the day with a 7-0 Aztecs, before being out-hit in the second game for a 5-2 loss.

The Broncos will chase the series victory in Saturday's rubber match, with first pitch schedule for 1 p.m. MT.

GAME ONE RECAP
The bats were once again rocking for Boise State in the opening game of the series, as the team got home runs from Jessica McKay and Rebekah Cervantes to power the team to a 7-0 victory over San Diego State (15-15, 3-2 MW).

Boise State struck first in the bottom of the second inning, scoring two runs. Ashlyn Adams hit a single into left field, and with the Aztec left fielder bobbling the ball, Alison Seng had time to reach home plate from second. Adams scored on the next at-bat, reaching on a single up the middle from Serena Huchingson.

McKay would hit two home runs on the day, homering to left field in the bottom of the third, and sending another shot into right centerfield in the bottom of the fifth.  Cervantes hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth to put the Broncos up by seven. McKay ended the day 2-for-3, batting in three runs. Cervantes would go 3-for-4 at the plate.

Boise State had a lock-down defense in the game, led by Kelsey Broadus in the circle. The left-hander struck out four batters while allowing only one walk in 6.0 innings of action. As a defense, the Broncos committed zero errors, and retired the San Diego State order in three separate innings.

GAME TWO RECAP
A two-out, three-run home run by Taylor Adams in the top of the first was too much for Boise State to overcome, as they fell to San Diego State in the second game of the day, 5-2.

After retiring the first two batters of the game, starter Gianna Mancha would give up a double and a walk to put two runners on base. Adams would hit a three-run home run to give the Aztecs an early 3-0 lead in the game.

Boise State responded  in the bottom-half of the inning, getting solo home runs from both Kora Wade in the leadoff spot, and Bradie Fillmore in the four-spot.  The Broncos struggled to get runners on base the rest of the game, finishing with only five hits.

No Bronco would finish the game with multiple hits, while only Wade and Fillmore were able to draw walks off of San Diego State's Marissa Moreno.
