Justin Stattner easily wins men's pole vault, while Baylee Dodd opens season with victory in the women's shot put

NAMPA, Idaho – Justin Stattner and Baylee Dodd won titles to close out the NNU Open, Saturday for the Boise State track and field team.

Stattner claimed the victory in the pole vault by clearing 15'-7" (4.75m). He was the only athlete in the field to clear any height above 13'-7.25" on the day, as he was the only athlete left competing by the time he took his first attempt.

In the women's shot put, Baylee Dodd won the event with a best toss of 40'-5" (12.32m) to finish nearly a foot ahead of the next competitor. Dodd's best throw came on her third attempt, which also advanced her to the finals.

Both Ricardo Rodriguez (58.67) and Cameron Wrout (58.85) put together solid showings in the 400m hurdles, while Drew Lindsley was third in the discus throw with a best toss of 148'-8" (45.32m) on his third attempt.

The Broncos will return to action next weekend at the Stanford Invitational and SF State Distance Carnival, March 29-30.
