Ostrander and Dehaven set school records in the 10,000m races, Kirby and Georgiou post strong showings in sprints
STANFORD, Calif. – Allie Ostrander etched her name deeper into the record books, Friday night at the Stanford Invitational. Her record-breaking performance led a host of other top performances from the Boise State track and field team.
The redshirt junior ran 32:06.71 to take third in the invitational section of the 10,000m. Her time breaks Emma Bates' (2011-15) school and Mountain West record by almost seven seconds. The time also moves her to 10th on the NCAA record book in the event.
"It was nice to get in a hard effort against a great field," Ostrander said. "I'm looking forward to using this experience as a base for the rest of the season."
In the men's 10,000m, Addison Dehaven ran a school record time of 29:02.28 to take 17th in the invitational section of the meet. His time breaks Jose Uribe's 23-year old school record by six seconds. Miler Haller ran 29:48.06 in the same race.
Bryce Kirby kicked off the day with a phenomenal performance in the men's 100m. The senior was the fastest collegian on the day in a time of 10.39. While his time was aided by a 2.8 meters/second tailwind, it still placed him second in a competitive field.
In the women's 100m hurdles, Dafni Georgiou was the fastest non-qualifier in the event. The freshman ran 14.09 to debut at fifth on the school record book.
Both Ahmed Muhumed (13:57.26) and Elijah Armstrong (13:58.26) broke the 14-minute barrier in the 5000m race, while Clare O'Brien set a new personal best of 15:48.56 in the invitational section of the women's race.
