BRONCOS TAKE ON COLLEGE OF IDAHO AND EASTERN WASHINGTON IN BOISE

The Boise State women's tennis team is back in action this weekend with two home matches against College of Idaho and Eastern Washington.

After sweeping last weekend's matches, including a win over Pac-12 Colorado, the Broncos have battled back to a .500 record on the season, and will look to extend their winning streak against the Yotes and the Eagles.

College of Idaho, 0-4 on the year, is hungry for a win and would love to get one against the big school down the road. Eastern Washington, like Boise State, is a .500 team looking to finish this weekend with a winning record.

Both matches will be held at Boas Indoor Tennis Center and are slated to start at 5 p.m. The Broncos take on College of Idaho on Friday and Eastern Washington on Saturday.

WHAT'S THE SCOOP

After a rough start, the Broncos doubles teams have performed exceptionally well as of late. The team has won the doubles point in three consecutive matches which has helped them gain momentum to carry over into singles. Wilhelmina Palmer has won four straight singles matches at the No. 1 slot and helped her partner Lilian Poling win four straight in No. 1 doubles. Palmer was named last week's Mountain West Player of the Week for her strong performances.

LAST TIME OUT

The Broncos defeated Pac-12 Colorado 4-3 behind strong performances from Poling, Palmer, and Wiktoria Nosek. The win was the program's first Power 5 win since 2014 and evened the team's season record at 4-4.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Poling has been a leader for the Broncos at the No. 2 singles and No.1 doubles positions this season. With a team leading seven singles victories, she has been a force for the Blue and Orange, and has showcased amazing toughness with some tight three-set victories. That same toughness has shown in her doubles play, as she and partner Palmer have gone 7-1 to lead their team

HEAD COACH BECK ROGHAAR

With a career record of 103-84 and six winning seasons, Roghaar has made his mark on Boise State as he enters his ninth season with the program. He became the second coach in program history to reach 100 wins on January 19, 2019 after a 6-1 win against Idaho State. Last season he coached the team to a 14-8 record and the Mountain West Mountain Division regular season title after going 5-0 against divisional opponents. The 2011 WAC Coach of the Year continues to build a rising Boise State program that has been built on the values of toughness and passion.

BOISE TIES

Three freshmen on the team have ties to Boise. Sydnie Binder attended Borah High School in Boise before moving to Oregon. Camryn Moortgat was born and lived in Boise before moving to Dallas, Texas, before high school. Corey Patton-Lossner is the niece of former Boise State head men's tennis coach Greg Patton.

YOUTH BE SERVED

Boise State's roster consists of five freshmen this season, four of which have seen action so far this spring. Emily Strande, Frankie Trella, and Binder all have earned their first singles victories of their careers, while Patton Lossner has earned a victory in doubles play. Camryn Moortgat will be redshirting for the Broncos this season.
