WHAT'S HAPPENING
- Boise State beach volleyball travels to Salt Lake City for the Utah Beach Classic this Saturday. This is the final road trip of five for the Broncos this year, they will close the season next week at home.   Â
- The Broncos (10-5) will open up Saturday against the Colorado Mesa Mavericks (3-6) in what will be the second meeting of the season between the two programs, Boise State defeated CMU 5-0 at the Cactus Classic in Tucson, Ariz., Feb. 23. This will be the second meeting in the series.
- Boise State and Utah (4-6) will meet for the first time ever when they face off at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
- There will not be any live scoring or video stream for this weekend.
LOOKING AT THE OPPONENTSÂ
- This is the first match for the Mavericks since the Belmont Shore Challenge March 22-23 at Long Beach, Calif., where they went 2-2. Colorado Mesa enters this week at 3-6 overall with wins over Benedictine (Ariz.) 3-2, Nebraska 3-2 and CSU Bakersfield 3-2.
- Utah enters the week at 4-6 overall and are coming off a week (April 6-7) in Tempe, Ariz., where the went 1-2, defeating Abilene Christian 5-0 while dropping matches to Arizona State 4-1 and No. 14 Arizona 5-0.
BRONCOS ADD EXHIBITION PAIRS TOURNAMENT TO 2019 SCHEDULE
- Boise State has added an exhibition pairs tournament to its schedule for April. The Broncos Exhibition Pairs Tournament will take place on Tuesday, April 16th, starting at 1 p.m. (Mountain) at the Boise State Sand Volleyball Complex.Â
- At this time the tournament will consist of 22 pairs representing five schools from the region including: Boise State University, College of Idaho, Northwest Nazarene University, College of Southern Idaho and Treasure Valley Community College.
RECORD SETTING SEASON
- Boise State's 10 wins this season are a school record and surpass the eight the Broncos registered in the 2017 and 2018 seasons combined.Â
- The 44 pairs' victories this season dwarf the previous school record of 28 set in 2016 and Boise State still has four matches left on its schedule.Â
- The 10-5 overall record also clinches the program's first regular-season winning season in its six-year history.Â
LAST TIME OUT FOR BOISE STATE
- The Broncos returned to action this past weekend when they traveled to the Sacramento, Calif., metro area where they went undefeated claiming three victories over Sacramento State (4-1), Pacific (3-2) and UC Davis (4-1) to improve to 10-5 overall.Â
- On the weekend, Boise State's No. 1 tandem of Kendra Bodine and Janell Walley posted three victories and set a single-season program record with 11 pairs wins (11-4 overall) and moved them within two of the Boise State career record by a pair.Â
- Walley, a junior, raised her career-win total by an individual to 23, second all-time at Boise State to Sabryn Roberts's 24.Â
- Roberts, a senior, teamed with Morgan Hughes (9-6 on the year) for three straight-set wins at the No. 2 position.Â
- Also going undefeated on the weekend was the No. 5 pair of Kenna Hanses and Maya Watkins who went 3-0 as well.
COACH BUCK
- This is head coach Allison Buck's inaugural season at the helm of the beach volleyball team after two seasons as the assistant.
- Buck is assisted by Hayley Peterson, a 2017 graduate from Idaho State.
