The Boise State women's tennis team came up short against New Mexico 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in Albuquerque
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (4/7/19) – The Boise State women's tennis team fell to New Mexico 4-0 Sunday afternoon in Albuquerque to close out a two-match road trip.
The Lobos (10-8, 3-1) held strong in the doubles matches, winning on courts one and three to put the Broncos (7-8, 0-2) in a 1-0 hole heading into singles play.
The Lobos carried the same momentum into singles as they won matches on courts three, four, and six to clinch the match at 4-0.
At the time of the clinch, Wilhelmina Palmer had forced her match on court two into a third set, while Lilian Poling and Emily Strande were both up a set in their matches at the No. 1 and 5 spots, respectively. Poling had the 7-5, 4-2 lead on court one and Strande was just minutes away from a potential victory with the 6-2, 5-3 advantage.
Up next, the Broncos will head back to Boise for a two-match homestand against Colorado State on Saturday, April 12, and Wyoming on Sunday, April 14 at the Appleton Tennis Center.
The match on Friday will take place at 5:30 p.m. while the Sunday match will be played at 11 a.m. These two matches will be the team's last of the season in Boise.
