BRONCOS HOST FINAL HOMESTAND OF THE SEASON

The Boise State women's tennis team is back in Boise to play two Mountain West opponents in what will be their final two home matches of the season. The Broncos will be taking on Colorado State on Friday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m., and Wyoming on Sunday, April 14 at 11 a.m.

On Friday the Broncos will be facing Colorado State in a match that will see one team walk away with its first conference win of the season. Boise State has won all eight meetings with the Rams since joining the MW in 2011-12, including a 4-3 win in last year's conference tournament on April 26, 2018.

Sunday's match will see the Broncos take on the Cowgirls in the final home match of the year. In the most recent meeting between the two, Boise State walked away victorious, earning a solid 4-2 win on March 30, 2018, in Laramie, Wyo.

The matches are slated to be held outdoors at the Appleton Tennis Center. Should weather turn bad, the matches will be moved indoors to the Boas Indoor Tennis Center. Tune into the Bronco Twitter page for updates on the match location.

WHAT'S THE SCOOP

The Broncos have been incredible when playing at home this season. Sporting a 7-1 record – four of those wins being sweeps – when playing in Boise, the Broncos have been able to harness home-court momentum and use it to their advantage. With the final home matches of the season being this weekend, the team is hoping for a good turnout from Bronco Nation to help propel them to two quality wins.

LAST TIME OUT

The Broncos were on the road this past weekend where they dropped a pair of contests falling in a tightly contested match at UTEP by a 4-3 score on Friday, followed by a 4-0 loss at New Mexico in a Mountain West match on Sunday.
At UTEP, Boise State won the doubles point with victories by Frankie Trella/Vanessa Timm and Wiktoria Nosek/Emily Strande at the No. 2 and 3 positions. That was followed by singles wins on court two by Wilhelmina Palmer and Strande, both won 6-1, 6-1.
At New Mexico the Blue and Orange came up on the short end of the score as well but were led by Palmer at No. 2 singles. The sophomore rallied after dropping the first set to win the second and force the match into a third, unfortunately, her contest was stopped once the team victory was clinched by the Lobos.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Sophomore Wilhelmina Palmer has been excellent for the Broncos so far this season. At 9-4 overall in singles play, Palmer has the second highest win total on the team, with most of her victories coming at the No. 1 position. She has also been stellar in doubles play with partner Lilian Poling having a team-leading 10 wins as the No. 1 pair for the Blue and Orange.

HEAD COACH BECK ROGHAAR

With a career record of 106-88 and six winning seasons, Roghaar has made his mark on Boise State in his ninth season with the program. He became the second coach in program history to reach 100 wins on January 19, 2019 after a 6-1 win against Idaho State. Last season he coached the team to a 14-8 record and the Mountain West Mountain Division regular-season title after going 5-0 against divisional opponents. The 2011 WAC Coach of the Year continues to build a rising Boise State program that has been built on the values of toughness and passion.
