BREMERTON, Wash. – Despite a hot start, the Boise State men's golf team is in ninth place after one day at the Husky Invitational played on Gold Mountain Golf Club's Olympic Course.

Led by three birdies from senior Brian Humphreys, the Broncos were 4-under as a team through six holes. Over the next three holes, Boise State lost five strokes and made the turn at 1-over.

Junior Skyler Eubank play even on the back nine and finished the first round at 1-under, tied with Humphreys. Senior Joe Neuheisel also played even on the back nine and Boise State finished the first round at 5-over, 293.

In the second round, Eubank collected a pair of birdies on the front nine and another on No. 11, but three bogeys earned him an even par round and he is tied for 17th at 1-under (71-72).

"It was another gritty day for Skyler," Boise State head coach Dan Potter said. "He didn't have nearly his best stuff, but found a way to get under par. We have guys who are close to playing well, but it's a shot here or there that hurts the momentum. I'm hoping we get over that hump sooner than later. This course is a good test and good round tomorrow can go a long way."

Sophomore Hugo Townsend recovered from a 4-over 76 in the first round to card four birdies in the second round. He finished his day at 2-over (76-70) and tied for 32nd. Humphreys backed up in round two and is tied with Townsend at 2-over (71-75).

For the second-straight round, Neuheisel played even on the back nine and is tied for 54th heading into the final round at 6-over (75-75). Sophomore Cameron Barzekoff is at 7-over (77-74) and tied for 59th.

As a team, the Broncos are 8-over (293-291), a stroke ahead of Mountain West rival New Mexico. Tournament host Washington leads the 15-team field at 22-under (274-280). Boise State is three shots back of Seattle U and seven behind Saint Mary's. The Broncos, Redhawks and Gaels are grouped together in the third round beginning at 8:15 a.m. MT, Tuesday.
