Janell Walley hit 55 percent and recorded 18 kills to lead Boise State’s sweep of the Aggies in Logan.

LOGAN, Utah  - Janell Walley's team-high 18 kills led Boise State to a road sweep of Utah State Tuesday night in the Mountain West Conference opener for both schools. Walley hit 55.2 percent to lead the Boise State attack which finished at 26.1 percent as a team, while holding the Aggies to 14 percent.
"It's always nice to get a Mountain West road win," said Boise State head coach Shawn Garus. "I thought the team played well in the third set to get the sweep. I'm excited for the upcoming homestand when we're in Bronco Gym for three straight."

Walley came up big when the team needed her. Boise State trailed most of the way in set two, then after the Broncos had rallied from a 24-21 deficit to tie the score at 24, Walley closed the set out. Boise State had set points at 25-24 and 26-25, each time the Aggies tied the score. Tied at 26, Walley took control with two-consecutive kills to suck the energy out of Utah State with a 28-26 win and a 2-0 Broncos match lead.

After deflating USU with the set two come-from-behind win, the third set was all Broncos as they raced out to a 7-0 lead and never trailed. Boise State led by as many as 11 points in the final period and hit 31 percent to USU's nine percent as the visitors secured the victory.

Freshman Lauren Ohlinger was another big player in the Boise State win recording the team's only double-double on 10 kills and team-high 13 digs, in addition to three service aces and a block.

Jessica Donahue was huge for the Broncos as well. The sophomore middle blocker hit 40 percent for nine kills and tallied a season-high eight blocks.

Danielle Boss guided the Boise State attack distributing 42 assists while recording three kills, three service aces, seven digs and three blocks.
