Georgiou Makes History at Ed Jacoby

NAMPA, Idaho – Boise State track and field powered its way to five victories on day two of the Ed Jacoby Invitational at Jackson's Indoor Track, Saturday.

Dafni Georgiou ran a personal best time of 8.50 in the women's 60m hurdles finishing third overall. However, the time also set a program-best mark, eclipsing a time of 8.52 set in 2009 by Megan Olivetti. Georgiou now holds two of the three top-fastest times in Boise State history.

Junior Olivia Johnson used a powerful kick on the final straight-away to secure the win in the women's mile run, coming in with a time of 4:49.48. Sophomore Yukino Parle joined her in the top-five with a third-place finish.

Distance runners Kristie Schoffield and Jonathan Shields led the way for the women and men finishing first in the 1,000m run, respectively. Schoffield logged a time of 2:53.04 while Shields closed with a 2:24.89.

Competing as the lone Bronco on Friday evening, senior Kendra Noneman tossed her way to a second-place finish in the women's weight throw with a toss of 17.84-meters.

Junior Ahmed Muhumed led the way for the men in the mile run, finishing second with a time of 4:15.21.

The men's 4x400m relay A team earned first place with time of 3:17.09 in the final event of the day.

The Blue and Orange will head to Texas for the first road meet of the year as they head to the Texas Tech Invitational, Jan 30-Feb. 1, in Lubbock, Texas.
