WHAT'S HAPPENING

♦ THIS WEEK: Boise State (4-1) heads to Tempe, Ariz., this weekend for the Littlewood Classic hosted by Arizona State.
♦ FIELD: The field for the Littlewood Classic includes two nationally ranked teams in No. 10/10 Kentucky and No. 22/23 Arizona State, in addition to Boise State, Detroit Mercy and Illinois State.
♦ OPPONENTS: Boise State will play five games in Tempe, meeting Illinois State twice and the other three once each. The Broncos are 0-4 against the field all-time, all four versus ASU.

THE SCOUTING REPORT

ILLINOIS STATE REDBIRDS
♦ Boise State has never met Illinois State in softball, but will face the Redbirds twice this week in the opener Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. (Mountain) and again at 9 a.m. (MT) on Saturday.
♦ The Missouri Valley Conference's Redbirds enter the week 1-4 overall with its lone victory coming at South Florida (9-3).
♦ The team is batting .211, averaging 3.2 runs per game and has an ERA of 5.03.

No. 10/10 KENTUCKY
♦ The Broncos and Wildcats have never met on the softball diamond before with Friday's 2 p.m. (MT) encounter being the first.
♦ The Southeastern Conference's Wildcats are ranked No. 10 in both major softball polls and are 4-0 overall. Kentucky has wins over Liberty (6-2), Texas State (2-1), NC State (6-2) and No. 7 Minnesota (7-0).
♦ As a team the Wildcats are hitting .305, average 5.3 runs per game and have a team ERA of 0.72 (No. 10 in NCAA).

DETROIT MERCY
♦ Detroit Mercy will face the Broncos for the first time ever when the two play at 11:30 a.m. (MT) on Saturday.
♦ The Titans out of the Horizon League enters the weekend 0-4 overall, all four loses have come to power five conference schools twice each to North Carolina and No. 8 Florida State.
♦ Detroit Mercy is hitting .132 as a team, averaging less than a run per game and has a team ERA of 13.87.

No. 22/23 ARIZONA STATE
♦ Boise State will wrap the weekend up on Sunday when it faces ASU for the fifth time in program history.
