SAN JOSE, Calif. -Â Boise State men's basketball tallied 29 assists on 31 field goals Wednesday, en route to an 80-62 win at San Jose State. The Broncos outscored the Spartans 28-15 in the final 14 minutes to pick up their 10th conference win of the season.
RayJ Dennis dished out a career-high eight assists to lead the Boise State (18-10, 10-6 MW) ball movement barrage. The 29 helpers are the most by a Boise State team since 2007. Seven different Broncos had at least two assists.
Justinian Jessup scored a team-high 20 points to go with six rebounds and five assists. Jessup has scored at least 20 points in seven Mountain West games this season. The Mountain West's all-time three-point leader added four more triples, moving to 313 in his career and 86 on the season. Jessup now owns three of the top four single-season three-point marks in Boise State history and is six shy of Abe Jackson's school record.
The Spartans (7-20, 3-12 MW) hit three three-pointers early in the second half and trailed by four with just under 17 minutes to play. The Broncos responded by attacking the paint, scoring inside and at the free throw line to extend the lead the rest of the way.
The frontcourt trio of Robin Jorch, Abu Kigab and RJ Williams combined for 41 points. Jorch matched his career high with 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting. Kigab added 16 and Williams chipped in 13. Derrick Alston, Jr. joined them in double figures with 10 points to go along with his six assists.
The Broncos reached the 10-win plateau in conference play for the fifth time in the last six seasons. With two games left in the league schedule, Boise State is looking to join San Diego State as the only Mountain West programs to win 12 conference games four times in the last six years.
Boise State returns home for its final home game of the season Sunday (Feb. 23) against New Mexico. Boise State will honor its five seniors prior to tipoff.
