WHAT'S HAPPENING
THIS WEEK: Boise State (0-0) opens its 12th campaign on the road in northern California where the Broncos will compete in the NorCal Kickoff hosted by UC Davis and Sacramento State Thursday through Sunday.ÂFIELD: The field for the NorCal Kickoff includes: Boise State, Cal Baptist, Idaho State, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara. Â Â
OPPONENTS: Boise State is 13-4 all-time versus the five teams it will face this weekend in Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara and Sacramento State.

THE SCOUTING REPORT
SAINT MARY'S
- Boise State opens the season Thursday morning at 10 a.m. (Mountain) in Davis, Calif., against the Saint Mary's Gaels out of the West Coast Conference.
- The Gaels went 14-37 overall and 7-8 in WCC play during the 2019 campaign.Â
- This will be the fifth meeting all-time in the series, which Boise State leads 3-1.
- The last meeting was Feb. 9, 2018 when the Broncos won 13-5 in Tempe, Ariz.
- The Broncos will play the Santa Clara Broncos — also of the West Coast Conference — Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. (MT) in Davis.
- Santa Clara went 16-34 overall and 8-7 in league action in 2019.Â
- Friday's encounter in the battle of the Broncos will be the fourth all-time with Boise State leading 3-0.
- The last time these two met was March 1, 2017 when Boise State claimed a 4-0 shutout over Santa Clara in Nampa, Idaho.Â
- The Blue and Orange will close day two in Davis where it will face the host team the UC Davis Aggies of the Big West Conference at 3 p.m. (MT).
- UCD went 39-14 overall in 2019 and 13-8 in league play.Â
- This weekend's game will be the fourth in the series with the Broncos leading it 3-0.
- These two teams met last season on March 1, 2019 at Las Vegas where Boise State won 9-4.
- Note of Interest: UC Davis is coached by Erin Thorpe who started the Boise State program in 2009 and coached the Broncos for six years going 173-150-1. She departed the program for UC Davis following the 2014 campaign.Â
- Boise State will move to Sacramento on Saturday where it will open the first of two games against the UCSB Gauchos at 12:30 p.m. (MT).
- In 2019, UC Santa Barbara went 10-42 overall and 4-17 in the Big West Conference.Â
- Saturday's contest will be the second in the series with the Broncos winning the previous encounter 7-1 at San Diego on Feb. 17, 2012.
- Boise State will closeout the weekend Saturday afternoon against the Sacramento State Hornets of the Big Sky Conference, first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. (MT).
- The Hornets went  31-25 overall and 9-8 in the Big Sky Conference last year.Â
- Saturday's match-up will be the seventh in the series all-time, which is tied at 3-3.
- The last time Boise State faced Sacramento State was last year on March 9, 2019 when the Broncos won 7-3 at Stockton, Calif.

ROAD WARRIORS
- Boise State will hit the road this weekend to not only open the season, but to start five straight weeks of road trips.
- The Broncos will play their first 25 games of the year away from home.
- In all the Blue and Orange will play 40 of its 55 contests on the road.Â
- Boise State enters its 12th season opener with a 6-5 all-time record in game one over the first 11 campaigns.
- The Broncos currently have an active two-game win streak in season openers with an 11-3 victory over South Dakota in 2018 and a 8-0 win over Boston College last year.
- All of the season openers have been road games.
- The Broncos return three of their five All-Mountain West honorees from 2019.
- Senior Bradie Fillmore played third base and led the league in home runs last year, she was a first-team honoree.
- Ashlyn Adams — a current junior — plays right field where she was a All-MW first teamer last season.
- Senior left fielder Jessica McKay was a second-team honoree.Â
- Senior third baseman Bradie Fillmore was the lone Bronco to receive all-region honors in 2019. She returns for her senior year in 2020.
- Boise State returns six position starters from its 2019 campaign that made the NCAA regional final.
- Four of the six started all 52 games last year: Allison Seng (Jr., INF), Ashlyn Adams (Jr., OF), Bradie Fillmore (Sr., INF) and Jessica McKay (Sr., OF).
- The other two started at least 50 games: Karlee Johnson (Sr., INF/OF) and Serena Huchingson (So., C).
- Together the six returners accounted for more than half of Boise State's statistical totals from 2019 in the following categories: 271 hits (59.2 percent), 181 runs (54.5 percent), 40 home runs (62.5 percent) and 201 RBIs (66.8 percent).
- The Broncos return three pitchers from 2019.Â
- Senior Kelsey Broadus started more games than any other pitcher last season with 21 starts in 29 appearances recording a 3.01 ERA ... she currently owns the school's career ERA record of 2.66.
- Also back are senior Mickey Leal who had a season ERA of 3.16 in 2019, as well as, Veronica Lynch who finished last year with a 3.76 ERA.
