Huchingson Hits Grand Slam as Broncos Cruise Past UCSB

Kelsey Broadus was dominating on the mound for Boise State striking out nine and allowing one hit to the Gauchos.
Boise State beats UC Santa Barbara 8-0 to improve to 4-0 on the season. Broadus had 9 strikeouts while Huchingson had a grand slam home run to end it in 5 innings. 🐴👏👏👏

Broadus pitched the entire game striking out 9-of-17 batters faced and gave up only one hit. The senior recorded her second shutout of the weekend and third win of the season.
The game was a pitchers duel through the first four innings as neither team could get much going offensively. The only break through was when Boise State struck for an early run during the first inning when Huchingson singled to the left side to score Jessica McKay from second base. That score proved to be the lone run for either team through the first four innings until the Blue and Orange exploded in the fifth.
Leading 1-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, the Broncos' bats came alive. First up was Kelsey Lalor who singled to center field. Karlee Johnson then reached on a bunt via a fielder's choice that advanced Lalor to second. The next batter flied out with runners on first and second.
Ashlyn Adams came to the plate next. The junior proceeded to knock the second pitch over the right field wall scoring the first three runs of the inning.
McKay then singled up the middle, followed by Bradie Fillmore and Alison Seng getting walks to load the bases. That setup Huchingson's heroics as she hit the walk-off grand slam over the center field wall, clearing the bases and giving Boise State an 8-0 lead to end the game in five innings.
Huchingson ended the day as the only Bronco batter to record multiple hits going 2-for-3 and accounting for five of the eight Boise State RBIs. The other three RBIs came on Adams' home run to open the fifth.
