WHAT'S NEXT: The sixth-seeded Boise State women's soccer team (11-6-4/4-4-3 MW) gets set to play its second-consecutive Mountain West Championship final as its hosts top-seed New Mexico (13-4-2/7-2-2 MW) Saturday at noon at Boas Soccer Complex.

LAST TIME OUT: The Broncos advanced to the title game after moving past second-seed Fresno State in a 6-5 penalty kick shootout. After allowing the opening goal in the 17th minute, fifth-year senior Aubree Chatterton evened the score 1-1 where it remained through regulation and both overtime periods.

After both teams sank their first five penalty attempts, goalkeeper Sydney Smith made a save on the Bulldogs' sixth try. True-freshman Michaela Justiniani stepped up to the spot for the Broncos and sank the clincher, advancing Boise State to its second-straight MW Championship final.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: With Thursday's result Boise State became the first No. 6 seed to advance to the MW Championship title game. It also continued the Broncos' home unbeaten streak to six matches as they are 4-0-2 over that time when playing at Boas.

The Boise State defense has stepped up in a big way over its last five matches, giving up an average of only 0.80 goals per match with a shutout across that span. The good form will be put to the test as the defense tries to contain MW Offensive Player of the Year Jadyn Edwards and an offense that scored 2.00 goals per game this season. The last meeting between the two teams was just a one-score affair as Boise State limited New Mexico to only one goal but failed to score one of its own.

Saturday's match is a true David versus Goliath affair. New Mexico raked in the postseason honors this season, earning 10 Mountain West accolades including coach of the year, offensive player of the year, newcomer of the year and four all-conference first-team selections. Boise State only earned three such honors, with two second team selections and one newcomer team member. If the Broncos are victorious in the final, they will be the first team to be crowned Mountain West Champions with no all-conference first-team players on roster.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS: New Mexico was picked to finish first in this year's MW Preseason Coaches' poll, and after defetaing Utah State 2-1 in double overtime in the MW Championship semifinals round, the first-seeded Lobos find themselves exactly where everyone expected them to be: in the MW Championship title game.

Leading the conference in goals allowed (10) and sitting second in goals scored (18), it can be diffifult to find a weakness in the New Mexico squad that finished 7-2-2 in league play.

The Lobos are led by MW Offensive Player of the Year Jadyn Edwards, who finished conference play with five goals and five assists while leading the league in shots taken (44). They also boast another six players who earned all-conference nods, in addition to back-to back MW Coach of the Year Heather Dyche.

New Mexico was victorious in its first meeting with Boise State this season, winning 1-0 at home in an early October matchup. The last meeting between the two programs in the MW Championship was in 2019 when Boise State won 6-0 en route to its first MW Championship title.
