WHAT IS HAPPENING:Â The Broncos are on the road for the second straight week as they head to San Diego, Calif., for a pair of contests at UC San Diego out of the Big West Conference and San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference opener for both schools.Â

The action begins Friday in LaJolla, Calif., on the campus of UC San Diego when the Broncos and Tritons face off at 4 p.m. (Mountain). The trip will conclude with the conference opener at San Diego State on Saturday at 12 p.m. (Mountain). Â

THE SERIES:Â Boise State and UC San Diego have never met prior to this weekend. The Broncos and Aztecs have met 20 times previously and it is all tied up at 10-10.

ABOUT THE BRONCOS
LAST TIME OUT: Boise State traveled to Lewiston, Idaho, last week where the Broncos went 3-0 defeating Lewis-Clark State and Seattle U 7-0 each, followed by a 4-1 victory over rival Idaho.MW PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Boise State's Simon Arca Costas was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for the matches March 3-9. The redshirt-sophomore led Boise State to the 3-0 sweep over the weekend versus LCSC, Seattle U and Idago going a combined 5-0 over the three days, 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
LAWRENCE SCIGLITANO:Â Sciglitano has won four straight in singles splitting time between the No. 4 and 6 positions. The redshirt-sophomore is 6-1 in singles on the year and 3-2 in doubles.
WYATT DEMULLING:Â DeMulling was a 2020 All-MW singles honoree. This year he has gone 6-1 in singles playing primarily the three through five positions, he has an active four-match win streak going. DeMulling currently has a team-high 57 career wins in singles, 12 short of the program's top-20 list for career victories.

SIMON ARCA COSTAS: This year the redshirt-sophomore is undefeated in singles going 5-0 at the one through four positions and has won seven straight stretching back to 2020. The Spaniard won 20 singles matches last year and now has 45 career singles victories in the blue and orange.
BLAKE BAYLDON: Bayldon has gone 5-2 in singles to date splitting time between the top three courts. He split last weekend 1-1 at Lewiston. He has won 21 singles matches since transferring to Boise State for the 2019-20 season. He has a career doubles mark of 26-6, 5-1 in 2021.
BAYLDON & ARCA COSTAS:Â Bayldon and Arca Costas received All-MW Doubles honors after compiling a 14-2 record last year, including a 7-2 record while playing at the No. 1 position during dual competitions. This year the tandem has gone 3-0 at No. 1 doubles.
THE MAN IN CHARGE: Kristian Widen is in his third year in charge of the men's program at Boise State where he has recorded back-to-back winning seasons, his record currently stands at 26-17. Widen has been a part of seven conference championships at Boise State, three as a player and four as an assistant coach.
