Broncos take the first game 6-4, then fall 4-1 to Cougars in game two.
The first game was an offensive contest as the teams combined for 19 runs with the Broncos rallying from one run down to win it. The second game was more of a defensive game as neither team managed to get their bats going and hit under 20 percent, with the exception of BYU in the fourth inning when the Cougars hit two home runs.
Other Boise State leaders on the day were Jordyn Hutchins who hit .333 with two hits and one run, Kelsey Lalor tallied two hits, one was a home run, while Alison Seng recorded a pair of hits and had two RBI.
"Game one was a huge team win," said head coach Maggie Huffaker. "We found a way to stick together and get it done. We played great defense, pitched well and had a couple great pinch hits from India Kelly and Bobbiann Pratt. In game two, we just didn't make adjustments quick enough but did a nice job continuing to fight till the last out. I was pleased with Taylor Caudill coming in to throw some quality relief innings."
Coach Huffaker on what the difference was between the two games, "The difference in the two games really was just the adjustments at the plate. If we find a way to adjust sooner, I think we come out of the day with two wins. But we got a lot of valuable experience today, now we need to come back tomorrow and try to win the weekend."
