Pedro Liborio earns second-straight Mountain West Freshman of the Week honor.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Pedro Liborio has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week for the second time in as many weeks as announced by the league's office on Wednesday.
Liborio went 1-1 in singles to help Boise State to a weekend split  at Waco, Texas, where the Broncos defeated Abilene Christian 4-3 before falling to second-ranked Baylor.
On Sunday versus the Abilene Christian Wildcats, Liborio played a key role in Boise State's rally from three team points down to claim a 4-3 win. Liborio competed at No. 2 singles where he won a tightly competitive match 7-5, 7-5 over Dario Kmet, a win that tied the team score at 3-3 positioning the Broncos for victory.Â
In the second match versus Baylor, the freshman from Portugal moved up to the No. 1 singles slot for the first time in his short career. He faced the Bears' top player Adrian Boitan, falling in two sets.
Liborio and the rest of the Broncos will take this weekend off from competition before returning to action with a three-match homestand Feb. 4-6 when they will host Montana, Seattle U and North Dakota, respectively.Â
