Broncos Take Three Points In Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. – Boise State women's soccer traveled to Fresno and left with three points in the Mountain West standings, defeating the Bulldogs 1-0 Thursday evening.
In the early stages of the match the Broncos defended a handful of Bulldog chances to keep the scoreboard clear. Then in the 13th minute a Bronco corner kick was played short to Morgan Stone, who dribbled down the touchline and chipped a ball to Jocelyn Stephens who volleyed it in for the opener.
Boise State continued its defensive effort in the second half as Fresno State generated a number of chances early in the period. In the 57th minute the Bulldogs drew a corner kick that bounced dangerously in front of the Bronco net, but was cleared to preserve the lead. Boise State dealt with the remaining Fresno State chances to clinched the victory.

The Broncos continue the road trip with a visit to face San Jose State, Sunday (Oct. 16) at 1 p.m. MT.

- "I was impressed with the heart and the passion from our squad to overcome a team that is still fighting even though their season has been bleak," said head coach Jim Thomas. "That's what championship teams do. When it doesn't go great for you and you're not able to control the game you still find a way to get three points. I'm really proud of them."
- Boise State built its program-record unbeaten streak to 12 matches, going 6-0-6 in that span. The Broncos have not lost a match since Sept. 1.
- The Broncos have blanked nine-straight opponents, growing its program-record for consecutive clean sheets. It is the second-longest active shutout streak in the nation behind Georgetown (10).
- Boise State has not allowed a goal in 845:33, extending its program-record streak.
- Macie Nelson played in her 85th-career match, tying Raimee Sherle for second all-time in program history.
- With the win tonight, Boise State takes the all-time series lead over Fresno State (12-11-3).
