SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Boise State scored 35 runs and the Broncos continued their hot start with a pair of wins at the Gaucho Classic, Saturday.
Boise State (11-2) routed tournament host UC Santa Barbara (3-11) 20-7 and blasted Providence (5-4) 15-1 in a five-inning mercy rule victory.
"Our offense did a great job of being patient enough to take walks and aggressive enough to take advantage of pitches to hit," Boise State Head Coach Justin Shults said. "I am proud of the way we responded after a (Friday) loss."
In the win over UCSB, the Broncos scored multiple runs in five-different innings, including five runs in the third and fifth and a six-run seventh.
Alison Seng was 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBI, Jordyn Hutchins doubled and drove in five and Alycia Flores collected four hits, including three doubles, in six trips and knocked in pair of runs.
Seng stayed hot against Providence as she homered twice and added four RBI. Hutchins added a homer and three RBI while Hailey Hayes contributed a triple and three RBI.
The Broncos scored five times in the third and nine in the fourth to back the pitching of Taylor Caudill (5-0). The sophomore gave up an unearned run in four innings of work.
The Broncos take on the same two teams, Sunday when they face Providence at 10 a.m. and UC Santa Barbara at noon.
