Georgiou Breaks 100m Hurdles School Record

CLOVIS, Calif. – Dafni Georgiou broke the school record in the women's 100m hurdles and four Broncos notched event victories, as the Boise State track and field team competed at the Fresno State Invitational, April 30.

Georgiou shaved 0.26 seconds off the 14-year-old women's 100m hurdles school record, clocking a time of 13.40 en route to finishing second.

In addition to Georgiou's school record, senior Dario De Caro, freshmen Angus Fitzgerald and Yasmin Marghini and senior Kristie Schoffield each topped the podium in their respective events.

De Caro won the men's 5,000m invitational race, shattering his personal-best time by nearly 12 seconds and posting the fourth-fastest performance in Boise State history with a time of 13:45.56.

Fitzgerald garnered the Blue and Orange's first event title of the day in the men's 1,500m race, finishing a step ahead of his teammate Brogan Giffin. Fitzgerald registered a time of 3:48.85, while Giffin recorded a time of 3:49.30.

On the women's side, Marghini captured the 5,000m invitational race in a time of 16:20.96, nearly five seconds ahead of second-place Camila David-Smith from Washington.

Schoffield won the women's 1,500m race, running a two-second personal-record time of 4:20.92.

Next, Boise State will conclude its regular-season schedule in Eugene, Ore., at the Oregon Twilight, May 6.
