Coach Shields announces the addition of Arizona transfer Jett Middleton for 2022-23 campaign.
BOISE, Idaho - Boise State Men's Tennis Head Coach Luke Shields announced Tuesday the addition of Jett Middleton for the 2022-23 campaign. Middleton is the first recruit signed by Shields since taking over the program in May. The newest Bronco is a transfer from the University of Arizona and will have two years of eligibility left to play for Boise State.
Shields' thoughts on Middleton joining the Broncos, "We are thrilled to add Jett to our team. He was a five-star, top 40 recruit in the U.S. as a junior player. Jett has some massive goals and will bring a lot of experience and energy to our team. He has been a part of a top-20 team for the last two years and knows what it takes to be successful at this level. Jett is also from Colorado and has local ties, it will be great for the tennis community."
Middleton played the last two seasons for the Arizona Wildcats under former Bronco great Clancy Shields, the younger brother of Luke. The Wildcats advanced to the second round of the 2022 NCAA Championship and finished the year ranked 17th. As a sophomore this past year, Middleton went 12-5 in singles with nine doubles wins.
As a freshman in 2020-21 Middleton finished with eight doubles wins, including seven of his eight doubles matches at the No. 1 spot with his partner Jonas Ziverts, the pair was ranked as high as No. 48 nationally in the ITA doubles rankings. In singles, he finished with a perfect 4-0 record in dual matches.
Middleton was a 5-star recruit out of Columbine Valley, Colo., and was the No. 39 recruit in the nation coming out of high school with a UTR high of 12.29. He was the No. 1 recruit from Colorado and is one of the highest-ranked American recruits to come to Boise State.
Most recently, Middleton reached the doubles semifinals of the ITF M15 San Diego tournament (June 6-12) with partner Blake Kasday. On their way, Middleton's team advanced to the semis by defeating a pair from the University of Texas, Eshan Talluri and Siem Woldeab, in straight sets during their quarterfinal match.
