10/12/2023 11:00:00 PM | Women's Soccer

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State soccer recorded their first shutout in Mountain West play with a 1-0 win against San Jose State, on Thursday night.

Kenzie MacMillan scored the lone goal of the match off assists from Carly Cross and Cindy Conner with just two seconds left in the first half to give the Broncos (7-2-6, 5-1-1 MW) a 1-0 lead to enter the break. Boise State outshot San Jose State 18 to five, while earning six corners in the first half.

Despite the Spartans (3-6-6, 1-3-3 MW) taking as many shots as the Blue and Orange in the second half, Bronco goalkeeper Genevieve Crenshaw racked up four saves in the half to earn her 18th clean sheet, tying the program record for career shutouts.

Quotables
  • "What a journey Birdie (Genevieve Crenshaw) has been on," said head coach Jim Thomas. "For her to have done it as quickly as she has is amazing. She's been so committed to her team, not really caring about her personal stats and just doing what her team needs is something we'll forever value."
  • "Their celebration on the sideline for Kenzie was just like training, where we put music on and dance or laugh," said Thomas. "It's who we are, that's what we call the juice! I'm going to get into trouble for it because they keep running onto the field, but I will take that booking any time or day."
