Broncos Wrap Up San Diego Tournament

SAN DIEGO – Boise State men's tennis wrapped up the San Diego tournament, recording a combined nine victories over the three-day competition. Leading Boise State was Jip van Assendelft, who went undefeated in singles, while Liam Toroman went 2-1 in both singles and doubles.
On Friday, the Broncos went 2-4 in matches played against the University of San Diego. Liam Toroman and Kyvan Rietkerk earned a 6-4 victory in doubles, while Jip van Assendelft recorded the lone victory in singles, a three-set 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win over Savriyan Danilov.
Saturday afternoon saw the Blue and Orange claim a pair of singles victories. Van Assendelft won his second-straight three-set singles contest of the weekend, defeating San Diego State's Chikaya Sato 6-1, 0-6, 6-0. Toroman also recorded a singles victory for the Broncos, defeating Pepperdine's Photos Photiades, rallying from a set down to win in three 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.
The tournament concluded on Sunday, with the Broncos winning five of six contests versus Navy. In singles, van Assendelft finished the weekend undefeated in singles, collecting a tough two-set victory 7-5, 7-6 over Sasha Panyan. John Chin earned a 7-6, 6-2 win against the Midshipmen's Luke Garner, while Toroman defeated Aniketh Ayinala 6-1, 6-4, with Rietkerk going three sets to beat Nathan Nguyen 5-7, 7-6, 7-5.
Toroman and Rietkerk tallied their second doubles victory of the tournament, cruising past Navy's Ayinala and Nguyen 6-1.
