Broncos Host the General Patton Invite

WHAT'S HAPPENING

Boise State men's tennis is hosting its final home tournament of the fall semester this weekend (Oct. 20-22), the General Patton Invite. The tournament will be played at the Appleton Tennis Center on campus all three days, as well as at Julia Davis Park on Friday and Saturday.

The tournament features 38 student-athletes representing seven schools from throughout the region including Boise State, BYU, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana State, Portland State and Utah State.

THE GENERAL PATTON INVITE

The tournament is named after former Boise State head coach and Boise State Hall of Fame member Greg Patton. Patton coached the Broncos for 22 years winning 491 contests, 14 conference titles (regular season and tournament), and led the program to 16 NCAA tournament berths.

REPRESENTING THE BLUE AND ORANGE

The Broncos will be represented in the tournament by graduate-student Jan Lucca Marquardt, senior Teague Burger, and freshmen Kyvan Rietkerk and Liam Toroman.

BASIC TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

Location: The tournament will be held at Boise State's Appleton Tennis Center and Julia Davis Park (across the river from campus).
Parking: Free parking will be available for the tournament at the Lincoln Parking Garage on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and University Drive, use the kiosk and pick the tennis option or the General Patton Classic option.
Time: The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. (Mountain) each day. Friday and Saturday will be longer days than Sunday.
Format: There will be three flights for singles and one flight for doubles.
Tentative Schedule: Friday will start with two flights of doubles, followed by two flights of singles. Saturday will feature one flight for the main and consolation draws for both singles and doubles. Sunday will be the finals and any pick-up matches.
Field: There are 38 participants representing seven schools at the tournament: Boise State (host), BYU, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana State, Portland State and Utah State.
