BOISE, Idaho – Two regular season tournaments, a visit from perennial power Washington and the Mountain West Championship highlight the 2024 home portion of the Boise State softball schedule, head coach Justin Shults announced, Wednesday.
Â
The Broncos will play 21 games away from the Treasure Valley to begin the season. Boise State will travel to Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and California and will face Power 5 opponents Northwestern (season opener Feb. 9 in Tempe, Ariz.), Wisconsin, Arizona State, Michigan State (twice), LSU (twice), Houston, Stanford (twice), Georgia and California (twice) along the way.
Â
"Our nonconference schedule will be as tough as anyone nationally," Shults said. "Playing under the lights and hosting the Mountain West Championship are huge opportunities for our program as we continue to build on the success of the last-two seasons."
Â
Boise State will host tournaments in back-to-back weeks (March 7-10 and March 14-17). The home opener is scheduled for March 7 against Kennesaw State and the Broncos will face Utah Valley later that day. Boise State and Utah Valley meet again, March 9 and the Broncos play Weber State twice, March 10.
Â
Idaho State (March 14), St. Thomas (March 16) and Santa Clara (March 16 and 17) will be at Dona Larsen Park for the second tournament.
Tickets for Boise State softball home games are on sale now.
Â
The Broncos will play at Utah Valley (March 19) and Utah (March 20) before beginning their quest to repeat as conference champions with a three-game set at Utah State (March 21-23).
Â
A five-game homestand follows with a three-game series against San Jose State (March 28-30) and doubleheader versus UNLV (April 3).
Â
After a two-game series at San Diego State (April 6-7), the Broncos entertain Washington (April 10). The game will mark the first visit to Boise by a Pac-12 school and the first by a Power 5 opponent since Indiana in 2014.
Â
Following the battle with the Huskies, Boise State wraps up a four-game homestand with a conference series against Fresno State (April 12-14).
Â
The Broncos travel to Nevada for three games (April 21) and play a midweek game at Idaho State (April 24). The final conference series at home is against New Mexico (April 26-28) and Boise State concludes the regular season with a trip to Colorado State (May 2-4).
Â
By winning the conference in 2023, the Broncos earned the right to host the Mountain West Championship next spring. The tournament will take place, May 9-11 with the top-six teams qualifying.
Â
The Broncos have won 215 games over the last-seven seasons, most in the Mountain West. Boise State tied the school record with 40 victories in 2022 in Shults's first year. Last season, the Broncos won 32 games.
