BOISE, Idaho - Luke Shields, Boise State Men's Tennis Head Coach, released the 2024 spring schedule featuring 25 team duals on Thursday.

It is the most vigorous schedule the Broncos have faced in a long time, with the potential to meet 17 schools head-to-head that finished 2023 nationally ranked in the top 75. Five of those were in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Top 25: Ohio State (No. 2), Michigan (No. 6), Columbia (No. 13), Arizona (No. 15) and Middle Tennessee (No. 23). In addition, they will face representatives from three other schools in a hidden dual format competition that were also ranked in the ITA top 75.

"We are extremely excited about this schedule!" said Shields. "Potentially twenty top 75 opponents on our schedule. Nonconference highlights at home are Washington and Purdue.

"We have four big tournaments that we are playing outside of the postseason. The ITA Kickoff is number one. This is the first time we have been to the kickoff in several years. The second one is the prestigious Blue Gray tournament, which we last attended seven years ago. The third tournament is the Arizona State Invite, which consists of six teams in the top 50 in the country.

"We are also hosting our first tournament in years at the Eagle Tennis Center. This demanding schedule is a big step forward for our program. The challenging schedule should help us in pursuit of our goals this year."

The home slate includes nine home matches and a home team tournament, adding three more duals to the Broncos' schedule.

Visiting Boise to open the home schedule will be Idaho State and Lewis-Clark State in a doubleheader on Jan. 20. The next home date will be Feb. 10 when the Broncos host another doubleheader featuring Cal Poly and Eastern Washington.

All home matches in January and February will be played at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center, while contests hosted in March and April will be played at the Appleton Tennis Center, except the home tournament, which is being held at the Eagle Tennis Club.

March will close with a busy home slate for the Broncos, starting with the Purdue Boilermakers on the 15th, followed by the Boise State Spring Tournament featuring Eastern Washington, Idaho, Illinois State, Montana and Utah State March 22-23 at the Eagle Tennis Club.

The month will wrap up with home contests versus Washington (2023 ranking of No. 45) on March 27 and the Mountain West opener against San Diego State on the 29th.

The final homestand will be April 12-14, when Boise State hosts MW matches versus UNLV on the 12th and Nevada (2023 ranking of No. 71) on the 14th.

The road schedule starts with the Allen Morris Invitational at North Carolina on Jan. 13-16, where the Broncos will compete against the Tar Heels, Columbia and Tulsa in a hidden dual format (no team duals). All three teams finished ranked in the final 2023 ITA poll: 14, 13, and 54, respectively.

The Broncos will open team dual play at Eugene, Ore., for the ITA Kickoff Weekend (Jan. 26-27), where they will face Oregon (2023 rank of No. 48). Then, depending on the results, the winner or loser from the Ohio State (2023 rank of No. 2) and Vanderbilt (2023 rank of No. 72) match.

February opens with a trip to Michigan State (Feb. 2) and Indiana (Feb. 4). Then Boise State heads to Denver on Feb. 16-17 to meet the Denver Pioneers (2023 rank of No. 59) and LMU Lions, respectively. The month concludes with a trip to Montgomery, Ala., for the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic featuring Alabama (2023 rank of No. 49), Auburn (2023 rank of No. 26), Princeton (2023 rank of No. 55), Middle Tennessee (2023 rank of No. 23), Michigan State, Old Dominion (2023 rank of No. 65) and Rice (2023 rank of No. 61).

The Broncos open March with the Arizona State Team Tournament (March 1-3) in Tempe, featuring an eight-team field: Arizona (2023 rank of No. 15), Arizona State (2023 rank of No. 40), Grand Canyon, Liberty, Michigan (2023 rank of No. 6), Michigan State and VCU (2023 rank of No. 43).

After spending three weeks at home to close March, the Blue and Orange will hit the road in April for three league contests at Utah State on the sixth, followed by a regular-season ending trip April 18-20 to Air Force and New Mexico (2023 rank of No. 56), respectively.
