Broncos Rally Past Mustangs for First Road Win

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Boise State men's tennis rallied from a point down Sunday afternoon to defeat Cal Poly 4-3 at the Mustang Tennis Complex in San Luis Obispo, Calif. It is the first road victory of the season for the Broncos as they improved to 4-2 overall.

Down one heading into singles, Boise State regrouped and claimed wins on court four, where John Chin recorded the first victory 6-0, 6-3, and court two, where Simon Arca Costas also dispatched his opponent in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, to give the blue and orange a 2-1 advantage.

After the Mustangs tied the score at 2 all, Caden Moortgat put the Broncos back in front with a two-set 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.

Ryo Minakata clinched the match on court six, where he won in three sets 6-1, 0-6, 6-0, putting Boise State up 4-2.

The final match on court one was decided in a third-set 10-point tiebreaker that went in Cal Poly's favor. Â

- Arca Costas's singles victory moved him to 15-5 on the year to give him 86 career singles victories.
- Arca Costas recorded his 150th career combined (singles and doubles) victory on Sunday, becoming the 15th Bronco all-time to reach the milestone. He also moved into a tie for 14th on the 150 combined wins list. Â
- Moortgat collected his 10th singles victory of the season and 24th in his career.
