Bats Erupt on Home Opening Day

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State softball belted 11 home runs to sweep the doubleheader against Portland State, Saturday.
The Broncos (11-10) recorded six home runs game one to post a 10-2 mercy-rule win and five home runs game two to earn the 13-5 run-rule victory over the Vikings (6-15).
Five Broncos homered in the early afternoon game against Portland State, with senior Autumn Bennett sealing the win for the Broncos with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth.
Taylor Caudill (4-5) recorded the victory for the Broncos.
In the second game of the day, freshman Sydney Groves delivered a grand slam in the first inning, setting the tone for the Blue and Orange.
The Vikings rallied back, recording five runs in the next three innings, but the Broncos maintained their lead with four home runs in the last three innings.
Kasey Aguinaga (2-1) earned the win in the circle.
