BOISE, Idaho – Boise State softball swept its home-opening series against Portland State by recording a 24-6 mercy-rule win, Sunday afternoon.

The Broncos (12-10) opened the game strong, collecting 13 runs in the bottom of the first, tying the school record for most runs in an inning.

The Vikings (6-16) cut the lead down 19-6 with five runs in the fourth, but a grand slam from Kelsey Hall sealed the run-rule victory for the Blue and Orange.

The Broncos batted in 24, setting the program record for most runs batted in, were one run shy of tying the record for most runs in a single game, and tallied 47 runs in the series, earning the school record for most runs in a three-game stretch.

Brook Thompson (2-0) earned the win in the circle for the Broncos.
