The Broncos will return to Boise to host the sixth annual Barb Chandler Classic, Sept. 22-24.

Notables:
  • UP NOW: The Broncos return to Boise to host the sixth annual Barb Chandler Classic, Sept. 22-24. The action begins at 9 a.m. MT on Friday at the Appleton Tennis Center. The White Draw will compete at Julia Davis Park.
  • LAST TIME OUT: Boise State women's tennis team finished the Bedford Cup in the Mountains strong, coming home with three top-three finishes. Nicole Discenza and Lorelyz Marruffo placed second in the top flight of doubles, falling to Wyoming's Violetta Borodina and Sophie Zehender in the championship match. Pauline Ernstberger also had a good run, finishing third in the top singles flight. Ernstberger defeated two All-Mountain West singles selections from last year to claim bronze.
  • WHO'S IN: Ten Broncos will compete at the Barb Chandler Classic. Marruffo and Discenza will pair up, as well as Ernstbereger and Shauna Heffernan. Joana Baptisa and Ariadna Briones Ginesta will compete together while Bhakti Shah will team up with Ana Conde Vendrell. Ella Piron and Ryan Kershner will round out the Bronco competition.
  • SCOUTING THE FIELD: Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, Utah State and Weber State will join Boise State at the Barb Chandler Classic. Idaho State and Montana both qualified for the Big Sky Women's Tennis Championship tournament last season and finished fourth and sixth, respectively.
  • PAST SUCCESS: At the same tournament last year, the Broncos won all three flights of the Barb Chandler Classic. Discenza posted a 3-0 record in singles and Ryan Kershner went 2-0. Overall, the team went 13-3 in singles and 6-2 for doubles on the weekend, not including matches against fellow Broncos. Joana Baptisa and Discenza claimed the Blue Flight, Ana Conde Vendrell and Shauna Heffernan won the Orange Flight while Bhakti Shah and Kershner won the White Flight.
  • FORMAT: This event will feature  the annual mini-dual competition where teams are divided up into groups of two pairs.
