Defense Stifles Wolf Pack in Lawlor

RENO, Nev. – Boise State was once again clutch at the free throw line to withstand a late Nevada rally and pick up its second-consecutive Quad 1 victory, 64-56, Friday at Lawlor Events Center.

It's only the second victory at Lawlor Events Center for the Broncos since the start of the 2016-17 season.  

At the 4:42 mark of the second half, Nevada went on a 7-0 run to cut the Broncos' lead 52-50. Boise State turned up its defense in the final 3:10, forcing the Wolf Pack to miss four of their last five shots of the game.

The Blue and Orange were able to secure the win, going 10-of-12 from the charity stripe, courtesy of O'Mar Stanley making all six of his free throws in the final two minutes.

Top Broncos
  • Tyson Degenhart led the Broncos with 20-points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. He went 6-of-9 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
  • Roddie Anderson III dropped 12 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals.
  • Chibuzo Agbo scored 12 points, collecting nine boards and an assist.
  • Max Rice added 10 points, eight rebounds and an assist.
Notables
  • Boise State picked up only its second win at Lawlor Events Center since start of 2016-17 season. 
  • Boise State won the battle on the glass by +19, 43-24.
  • Nevada was held to two offensive rebounds . . . eight-straight game the opponent has had fewer than 10 offensive rebounds.
  • Only the second time Nevada has been held below 60 points this season.
  • The Broncos held an opponent to under 70 points for the eighth time in the last nine games, nine of the last 11. 
  • Boise State was 14-of-16 at the free throw line in the second half. 
  • Four players had at least eight rebounds, including three with nine.
  • Leon Rice added to his lead over Steve Alford for second on the all-time Mountain West wins list (134-111). 
  • The Broncos were 17-of-19 from the line in the second half. 
  • Tyson Degenhart is the first Bronco with a 20-9-4-2 game since Abu Kigab against Air Force (Jan. 8, 2021).
