ARLINGTON, Texas – Boise State knocked off Michigan State 4-3 and Kansas City 6-2 at the Maverick Invitational, Sunday.

"We treated Michigan State like a conference series and we answered the call after losing to them yesterday," head coach Justin Shults said. "We did a good job finishing the day strong against Kansas City."

Against the Spartans (4-6), the Broncos (7-2) posted their fifth come-from-behind win of the season and their third over a Power 5 school.

Michigan State scored three runs in the top of the second off Boise State's Taylor Caudill (5-1), but Mykenzie Hanna's solo home run in the bottom of the frame started the comeback.

Sydney Groves tied the game in the third with a two-run blast, her third home run in two days and fifth of the season. In the fourth, Hanna led off with a walk and scored the game-winner on a two-out double by Sophia Knight.

The Broncos jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning against the Roos (2-8) on a run-scoring double by Brooklynn Pettis and an RBI-single by Leah McAnally.

Both teams scored in the fourth before Boise State's two-out rally in the fifth put the game away. Pettis walked and scored on a double by Hanna. McAnally followed with her first-collegiate home run to increase the lead to 6-1.

Jenna Bloom (2-1) went the distance for the Broncos to pick up her second victory of the tournament.
