Boise State Kicks Off 2024 Campaign in Arizona

Boise Sate beach volleyball will kick off its season in Arizona. The Broncos will start in Tucson, Ariz. from Feb. 23-24 at the Cactus Classic before ending the weekend at the Grand Canyon Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz.

OPPONENTS

The squad will open the Cactus Classic with a match against Cal State Bakersfield, followed by a contest against Colorado Mesa. On Saturday, the Broncos will take on San Francisco and Arizona. Boise State will wrap up on Sunday at the Grand Canyon Tournament with duals against UAB and No. 14 Grand Canyon.

YEAR IN REVIEW

The Broncos are coming off their best season in program history, finishing 25-10. In its first season as members of the Southland Conference, the Blue and Orange lost in the conference championship to Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, narrowly missing out on an automatic bid the to the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship.

RETURNING GREATNESS

Four of the five top players on the Broncos' all-time career wins list, led by senior Kaylee Mejia leads the program with 54 wins. Rorianna Chartier (51 wins) sits in third place, followed by Sierra Land (43) and Emilia Guerra-Acuña. Boise State returns players who were named SLC First Team All-Conference last season – Guerra-Acuña, Mejia, Lily Patock, Aris Vetter and Elli Wolthuis.

NEW FACES

Boise State returns all but two players from last year's team. Five freshmen joined the Bronco roster, as did Austin Peay transfer Marlayna Bullington, who was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2022.

SEASON OUTLOOK

The Broncos have 10 opponents on their schedule who are either ranked or are receiving votes in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Preseason Poll. Boise State, who is receiving one vote in the poll, will play two of those opponents on the weekend.
