Broncos Down Nevada 4-0 on Senior Day

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's tennis closed Senior Day with a dominating 4-0 victory over the Nevada Wolf Pack at the Appleton Tennis Center on Sunday. The win improved the 57th-ranked Broncos to 15-10 overall and 3-1 in Mountain West action.
 
The Blue and Orange opened by taking the doubles point 2-1 over Nevada. Jett Middleton and Caden Moortgat started the ball rolling for the Broncos with a 6-4 victory on court two. Sam Sippel and Jan Lucca Marquardt clinched the doubles point with their 7-5 win at the No. 1 position.
 
Boise State followed doubles up by winning three consecutive straight-set victories to put the Wolf Pack away.
 
James Van Herzeele was the first to record a win, downing Loris Zisswiller 6-2, 6-1. Not long after, Idriss Haddouch turned in a two-set 6-1, 6-3 victory on court five to move the Broncos within one of clinching.
 
The decisive match was at No. 6 singles, where John Chin dispatched Greg Valente 6-3, 6-3 to secure Boise State's team victory.

Notables

  • Boise State finished the season undefeated, 12-0, at home. Excluding the 2021 COVID season, it is the sixth undefeated home season since 1996 and the first since the 2012 team went 19-0.
  • The Broncos have gone 23-2 at home in the last two years under head coach Luke Shields.
  • Boise State extended its series advantage over Nevada to 32-19 since 1982.
  • Haddouch extended his wins streak to 15 while improving to 20-10 overall and 16-1 in spring duals.
