Boise State Keeps MW Title Hopes Alive with Win at Air Force

USAFA, Colo. – Boise State men's tennis won a big match Thursday afternoon at Air Force, defeating the Falcons 5-2 to keep their Mountain West title hopes alive. The win improved the Blue and Orange to 16-10 overall and 4-1 in MW action.

The Broncos won the doubles point with victories on courts one and three. Sam Sippel and Jan Lucca Marquardt opened the scoring with a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, followed by Caden Moortgat's and Jett Middleton's 7-6(3) tiebreaker victory at the third position.

Marquardt extended the Boise State advantage to 2-0 when he dispatched Air Force's Jack Brown at No. 4 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

After the Falcons had closed to within one, 2-1, Jip van Assendelft won a three-set thriller at No. 2 singles 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 to give the Broncos back their two-point lead at 3-1.

Up one at 3-2, Boise State closed it out when Idriss Haddouch won a set-two tiebreaker on court five to defeat Alec Fritzinger 6-1 7-6(5) and clinch the team victory.

Not long after that, Middleton won his No. 6 singles contest 6-2, 6-3 to wrap up the action.
