Broncos Bested by Bulldogs

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State lost 5-2 to Fresno State in the final game of a Mountain West softball series, Sunday.

The Bulldogs (28-13, 8-5 MW) took a 2-0 lead in the second against Broncos' starter Taylor Caudill (14-11).

Boise State (26-19, 6-7) tied the game in the third when Alycia Flores singled in front of a two-run home run by Jordyn Hutchins.

Fresno State took advantage of Boise State mistakes to score three times in the fourth. An error, walk and single loaded the bases. After a force out at the plate and a strikeout, the Broncos were one out away from escaping trouble.

However, a walk pushed the go-ahead run across and a second error in the inning allowed two more runs to score.

"We did not make the plays we needed to make to win the game," head coach Justin Shults said. "We gave them extra outs and could not get the big hit when we needed it."
