3/20/2025 11:00:00 AM | Women's Beach Volleyball

EVENT: Boise State beach volleyball will travel to Thibodaux, La., for the Southland Conference Midseason Tournament, hosted by Nicholls State. The Broncos (6-9, 2-0 SLC) will begin the three-day event on Friday, March 21, with a 10 a.m. MT dual against league-newcomer Stephen F. Austin.

WHAT'S AT STAKE: The weekend will mark the conclusion of all SLC duals. The team that boasts the best league record following the three-day event will be deemed the SLC Regular Season Champion and earn the top seed in the conference tournament in April. Boise State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, who meet each other at noon MT on Sunday in each team's final dual of the event, are tied for first in the conference standings at 2-0. Since joining the league prior to the 2023 season, the Broncos are 18-6 against conference opponents.

FORMAT: The squad will partake in two duals per day at the event. Boise State will face New Orleans on Friday following its dual with the Lumberjacks, and will take on Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese State on Saturday. The Broncos will wrap up the competition on Sunday against the host school, Nicholls State, and the three-time defending champion, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Due to SLC policy, Boise State will not stream the duals on Playsight.

WEEKEND RECAP: Boise State is coming off another three-day event following a trip to California. The Broncos went 3-3 over the weekend, defeating San Francisco, Houston Christian and San Jose State while falling to No. 9 Long Beach State, Concordia Irvine and Cal State Bakersfield.

HEAD COACH HISTORY: Head coach Allison Voigt reached a significant milestone in the Golden State, recording her 100th career victory in the win over the Dons. Voigt, who is in her seventh season at the helm of the program, boasts a 102-60 (63.0%) all-time record.

ALL-TIME WINS LEADER: Emilia Guerra-Acuña has the opportunity to become the program's all-time wins leader this weekend. The senior enters the midseason tournament with a 72-45 (61.5%) all-time mark, trailing Rorianna Chartier's (2021-24) program-record of 74 career victories.

50-WINS CLUB: Following her pair of victories this weekend, Elli Wolthuis became the seventh Bronco in program history to achieve 50 career wins. The junior became the second member of the team to achieve the milestone this season, following Sharli O'Neil (56 wins). Ava Anderson (47 wins) and Lily Patock (45 wins) could also reach the mark this weekend.
