LAS VEGAS – Brooklynn Pettis delivered a two-out, two-strike, two-run single in the top of the eighth to lift Boise State to a 10-8 victory at UNLV, Saturday.

With the victory, the Broncos (25-11, 4-5 Mountain West) completed a three-game sweep of the Rebels (18-17, 2-7).

The Broncos trailed 1-0 after an inning before taking the lead on a two-run home run by Megan Lake in the second, her third homer in the series.

UNLV regained the lead 3-2 after two and Boise State tied the score when Leah McAnally walked with the bases loaded in the third.

The Broncos broke the game open in the fourth with a five-run rally. Sophia Knight's infield single put Boise State on top 4-3 and Makenzie Butt hit a grand slam to extend the lead to 8-3.

The Rebels answered with a run in the fifth and four in the sixth to tie the game 8-8.

In the eighth, Knight singled with one out and Mykenzie Hanna was hit by a pitch. Butt flied out to right advancing to Knight to third and Hanna stole second to set the stage for the heroics by Pettis.

Abby Dowell (8-4) worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth to finish her three-inning relief outing and earn the victory.

Boise State hosts Colorado State, April 2 in a doubleheader beginning at noon.

Makenzie Butt's grand slam was her 16th home run of the season, tying Devon Bridges (2011) for most by a Bronco freshman and fourth overall on Boise State's single-season list.
