Broncos Extend Winning Streak to Five

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State racked up 26 runs and 25 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Colorado State at Dona Larsen Park, Wednesday.

The Broncos (27-11, 6-5 Mountain West) posted an 11-4 win in the opener and routed the Rams (13-22, 3-8) 15-1 in five innings during the nightcap.

Boise State's offense was firing on all cylinders, scoring in nine of 10 offensive innings in the afternoon.

In the opener, the Broncos loaded the bases on three walks in the first and Megan Lake cashed in with a two-run single for a 2-0 lead.

In the second Chloe Hughes belted her first-career home run, a two-run blast, and Mykenzie Hanna added her 15th of the year, a solo tally, to up the advantage to 5-1.

The Broncos led 7-4 before putting the game out of reach with a four-run sixth. Hanna and Makenzie Butt each collected an RBI-single and Hollie Farmer capped the rally with a two-run single.

Sophia Knight, Butt and Farmer paced the offense in game two, each recording three hits and combining for seven runs and eight RBI.

Boise State seized control with a four-run first. Butt knocked in a run with a single, Lake plated a second with a ground out and Farmer's triple in the right field corner drove in two more.

Butt singled in a run in the sixth to extend the lead to 6-1. In the third, Hanna and Butt drew back-to-back bases loaded walks and Leah McAnally hit a grand slam for a 12-1 lead.

The Broncos closed the scoring with a three-run fifth, including a single by Butt that resulted in her fifth RBI of the game and her single-season school record 58th of the season.

Next, Boise State travels to New Mexico for a two-game series, April 5-6.
