
Broncos Complete Weekend at TCU Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas – Boise State beach volleyball nearly pulled off a pair of upsets during the toughest weekend of competition of its season. The Broncos (3-6) fell 3-2 to both No. 12 Florida Atlantic and No. 13 Texas, while also dropping matches to No. 4 TCU and No. 7 Florida State at the TCU Invitational.Â
No. 4 TCU got off to a hot start against the Blue and Orange in the first dual of the weekend, claiming straight-set victories from courts four and five to grab a 2-0 lead. The Horned Frogs clinched the victory with a win on court one, eventually winning 5-0.
Boise State found itself down 2-0 again after losing matches on courts three and four to No. 12 Florida Atlantic, but Avery Allen and Abbie Wolf put the team on the board with a thrilling 18-21, 21-13, 15-13 victory from the No. 5 position. Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden evened the dual score at two with a straight-set victory on the top court, sending the dual's outcome to court two. Allyson Alden and Sharli O'Neil fell in a three-set thriller, losing 19-21, 21-13, 15-13.
On the second day of competition, No. 13 Texas got on the board first with a straight-set win on court four. Allen and Wolf pulled out an exhilarating 19-17 third-set win on court five to even the score at one apiece. After Boise State dropped a point on court three, Anderson and Wolden pulled out a tight, straight-set win to even the scoreboard at two. Moments later, the Longhorns came out victorious on court two to claim the dual.
No. 7 Florida State got out to a 2-0 advantage against Boise State in the final dual of the weekend following victories on court four and five. Florida State clinched the victory with straight-set wins over court one and court three. After winning the first set, Alden and O'Neil snagged a three-set win from the No. 2 position to put the Broncos on the board.
Notables
- The Broncos competed against four ranked opponents on the weekend, the most ranked teams the team has played in program history.
- In their first year playing on the No. 1 court, Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden hold a 5-4 record from the top court. Six of their nine duals this season have come against ranked opponents.

What's Next
The Broncos will head to Long Beach, Calif., for the Long Beach State Classic from March 15-16, competing against San Francisco, Concordia Irvine, No. 8 Long Beach State and Cal State Bakersfield. Boise State will then open conference play on Monday, March 17 with a pair of neutral-site matches against San Jose State and Houston Christian in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
