Broncos Head to California for Three Days of Duals

EVENT:Â Boise State beach volleyball will travel to the Golden State for three consecutive days of duals. The Broncos (3-6), who are receiving votes in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll, will spend their first two days competing at the Long Beach State Classic from March 15-16. The squad will wrap up its trip on Monday, March 17, with a pair of conference duals in an event hosted by Cal Poly.

LONG BEACH STATE CLASSIC:Â The team will open the Long Beach State Classic against San Francisco at 2 p.m. MT on Saturday, March 15, followed by a dual at 4:30 p.m. MT against Concordia Irvine. The Broncos will begin the second day of play against their seventh ranked opponent of the season, No. 9 Long Beach State, at noon MT. Boise State will end the event with a 3 p.m. MT dual against Cal State Bakersfield.

CONFERENCE SEASON IS HERE:Â Following the Long Beach State Classic, the Broncos will travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., for its first two duals of Southland Conference play. Boise State will take on San Jose State on Monday, March 17 at 10 a.m. MT before competing against Houston Christian on March 17 at noon MT. The Blue and Orange are 3-0 all time against the Spartans and 6-1 all-time against the Huskies.

BROADCASTING INFO: For the first time in program history, all Boise State road duals will be streamed. Each match will have a live feed of each court so that fans can follow the beach volleyball team in real time. WEEKEND IN REVIEW:Â The Broncos competed in its toughest weekend of competition at the TCU Invitational, March 7-8. Boise State narrowly pulled off a pair of upsets, losing 3-2 to both No. 12 Florida Atlantic and No. 13 Texas, while also dropping matches to No. 4 TCU and No. 7 Florida State. The Broncos' top pair of Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden had a productive showing, finishing with a 2-2 record after pulling off victories against the Owls and the Longhorns. The duo, who have competed against six ranked opponents so far on the year, are 5-4 from the top positionÂ

RANKINGS:Â Boise State was slotted just outside the top 20 in the latest edition of the weekly AVCA Collegiate Beach Poll. The Broncos received nine votes and trails conference rival Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, who was selected as a SLC preseason co-favorite alongside the Blue and Orange in the league's preseason poll.

MILESTONES TO WATCH: Head coach Allison Voigt could achieve a significant milestone on the weekend, entering the weekend with 99 career victories. Emilia Guerra-Acuña begins the weekend with 70 career wins, needing just five to pass Sierra Land (2021-24) to become the program's all-time wins leader.Â
50-WINS CLUB:Â After becoming the sixth Bronco in program history to garner 50+ career wins during the first week of the season, O'Neil can move into the top five in program history this weekend. The senior enters the Long Beach State Classic with 52 career victories, trailing Joey Benson (2020-23), who earned 53 victories. Elli Wolthus (48 wins), Ava Anderson (46 wins) and Lily Patock (44 wins) can join O'Neil in the 50-wins club this weekend.
