STANFORD, Calif. – Boise State scored five times in the sixth inning to post a 5-4 come-from-behind victory at No. 10 Stanford in the DeMarini Invitational, Saturday.
Â
The Broncos (8-7) did not have a hit for 5 1/3 innings and trailed 3-0. Mya Flindt broke up the no-hit bid with a single and was replaced by pinch runner Grace Peffley. Quinn Southerland singled to get the tying run to the plate and Marissa Gonzalez put Boise State on the board with a run-scoring single.
Â
Skylar Stroh then delivered her second three-run home run in two days to give the Broncos a 4-3 lead. Four consecutive walks, the last to Jorja Crider, extended the advantage to 5-3.
Â
In the seventh, Stanford (8-4) loaded the bases with one out against Loula-Rae McNamara (3-0). Charley Duran induced a potential game-ending double play grounder, but Chloe Hughes misplayed the ball at shortstop. Hughes recovered to throw out the potential tying run at the plate.
Â
Hollie Farmer then knocked down a line drive at third base and stayed with the play to fire across the diamond for the final out.
Â
Earlier in the day, the Broncos were defeated 10-0 in five innings by No. 2 Texas.
