KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Boise State senior defender Kaitlyn Slocum has been named one of 40 defenders nationally to watch by United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced Monday.

Slocum is one of three defenders from the Pac-12 recognized on the watch list, joining Texas State's Victoria Meza and Utah State's Summer Sofonia. She also joins Boise State goalkeeper Ava de Leest, who was previously named to the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper Watch List on July 31.

The Meridian, Idaho, native is coming off an impressive 2025 campaign in which she earned United Soccer Coaches All-Pacific Region first team honors and was named to the All-Mountain West second team.

Slocum started 14 of her 15 appearances last season, playing all 90 minutes in nine matches. She recorded her first career assist at New Mexico for her first collegiate point and anchored a Boise State backline that posted six shutouts. During the Mountain West Championship, Slocum played all 110 minutes in both the semifinal against San Diego State and the championship match against Utah State.

The defender watch list is one of several positional watch lists released by United Soccer Coaches ahead of the 2026 season. The complete watch lists will be announced Aug. 12.

Slocum and the Broncos open the 2026 season at home against CSUN on Aug. 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT at Boas Soccer Complex. Fans can purchase new season tickets or renew existing memberships by visiting BroncoSports.com/tickets.
