2019-20  |  SENIOR SEASON

OVERALL: Finished the year 1-4 in singles play…posted a 5-5 record overall in doubles matches.
FALL SINGLES: Went 1-4 in singles this fall … Defeated Montana’s Pontus Hallgren 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (11-9) to reach the semifinals of the Idaho State Invitational  (Oct. 4-6).
FALL DOUBLES: With a combined 3-4 doubles record this fall between two partners, McDermott and Simon Arca Costas took home the consolation doubles title at the Idaho State Invitational (Oct. 4-6). defeating Idaho State’s Filippo LaCava/Kyler Hartman 6-0, Jon Mascagni and Justin Waldman of Air Force 7-5 and Weber State’s #2 Kris Van Wyk/Michiel Van Shoor 7-5.
SPRING SINGLES: Did not compete in spring singles.
SPRING DOUBLES: Finished the spring with a 2-1 doubles record…was 2-0 on doubles court three when playing with Kemal Karagozoglu.
 
Remainder of season canceled March 12 due to coronavirus pandemic.

2018-19  |  JUNIOR SEASON

HONORS: Mountain West Scholar Athlete and ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete, both for maintaining a 3.5 or better GPA.
OVERALL: Went 6-2 overall in fall singles matches ... posted 5-3 in fall doubles matches with three partners. 
FALL SINGLES: Defeated New Mexico State’s A. Rosas Garcia 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 in quarterfinals of Wildcat Invitational (Sept. 21-23) ... swept first match in Dar Walters Fall Classic (Oct. 5-7) defeating Montana’s Jack Yount 6-0, 6-2 ... went on to defeat Nishaant Limaye (Whitman) 6-1, 6-1 in quarterfinals of Dar Walters ... downed Marcos Zelver (Montana State) 7-5, 7-6 in semifinals of Dar Walters ... beat Idaho State’s Fynn Lohse in finals of Dar Walters 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
FALL DOUBLES: With Arca Costas defeated San Diego State’s Arnaud Restifo and Nick Mitchell 7-5 at the Wildcat Invitational ... while paired with Wyatt DeMulling, beat Air Force’s duo of James Scotty and Jordan Azuma (Air Force) 6-3 at Dar Walters Fall Classic. 
SPRING: Did not play in spring because of injury.

2017-18  |  SOPHOMORE SEASON

HONORS:  Mountain West Scholar Athlete and ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete, both for maintaining a 3.5 or better GPA.
OVERALL: Tallied a 8-10 overall singles record and 6-7 doubles mark on the year ... went 5-8 in singles during the fall semester and 3-5 in 12 matches during spring duals ... doubles play saw him go 4-3 in the fall and 2-4 during the spring playing primarily with Matteo Tinelli.
FALL SINGLES: Went 2-1 in singles at the Dar Walters Fall Classic (Oct. 5-8) in Boise, defeated Whitman’s Tom Chang 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7), Portland State’s Majeed Bukhari in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 to advance to round of 16 ... went 2-2 in singles at the ITA Mountain Regional (Oct. 18-22) in Provo, Utah, defeated Northern Colorado’s Kyle Pease 6-4, 6-2 in first round before falling in round of 64.
FALL DOUBLES: Paired with Matteo Tinelli in doubles they reached the round of 16 going 2-1 at the ITA regional with wins over Idaho’s Scarpelli and Shin 8-6 and Utah State’s Serrano and Carvaj 8-6.
SPRING SINGLES: Downed Whitman’s (Jan. 27) Chase Friedman in two-sets 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 singles to help Broncos win 5-2 ... recorded a straight-set victory 6-3, 7-5 over BYU’s (Feb. 3) Matthew Pearce at No. 6 singles ... dispatched Idaho State’s (April 8) Francis Filipovich 6-2, 6-4 in 4-3 Boise State victory. 
SPRING DOUBLES: While playing next to Tinelli they put away BYU’s (Feb. 3) John Pearce and Ben Gajardo 6-4 at No. 2 doubles ... recorded a 6-2 victory over Rice’s (Feb. 24) Mohamed Abdel-Aziz and Austin Moninger at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic. 

2016-17  |  FRESHMAN SEASON

HONORS: Mountain West Scholar Athlete (for maintaining a 3.5 or better GPA).
OVERALL: Finished freshman campaign with 6-14 overall singles record and went 1-6 at No. 6 singles during spring season ... tallied a 10-11 overall mark in doubles including a 7-4 record in spring duals.
FALL SINGLES: Played in three fall tournaments reaching the consolation quarterfinals of the Boise State Dar Walters Fall Classic (Oct. 7-9) ... went 3-2 in singles at the ITA Mountain Region Championships (Oct. 19-23) at Las Vegas, Nev., recording wins in the consolation draw over BYU’s Derek Vincent 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7), Utah’s Azat Hankuliyev 4-6, 7-6(5), 1-0 (10-5), and UNLV’s Ruben Alberts 6-1, 6-1.
FALL DOUBLES: Reached quarterfinals of Dar Walters Fall Classic with Kyle Butters tallying wins over BYU’s Sam Tullis and Garret Vincent 6-1 and Idaho State’s Josh Goodwin and Haseeb Khan 6-4.
SPRING SINGLES: Saw limited time because of injury playing in 16 contests primarily in doubles ... in singles he defeated Eastern Washington’s Ricardo Almeida 6-3, 7-6(3) to help team to victory.
SPRING DOUBLES: Was 7-4 in spring duals and 5-1 in Mountain West matches ... went 4-2 at No. 3 doubles with Brian Tran tallying notable wins over San Diego State’s Rafael Gonzalez and Joel Popov 6-4, Idaho’s Felipe Fonseca and Estaban Santibanez 6-1, Nevada’s Robert Margitfalvi and Augustin Delahodde 6-4 and Fresno State’s Zdeneke Derkas and Youssef Hassan 6-0 ... was 3-1 with Kyle Butters split between No. 2 and 3 doubles, beat UNLV’s Richard Solberg and Adam Gage-Brown 7-6(0)and Air Force’s tandem of Isaac Perez and Luke Sanderson 6-2. 

CORONADO HIGH SCHOOL

HONORS: Team MVP 2014 and 2015 ... won two doubles state championships, as well as two singles and two doubles regional titles.
HIGHLIGHTS: Comes from Las Vegas, Nev., where he is a 2016 graduate of Coronado High School ... four-year member of the Cougars’ varsity team where he was captain senior season ... helped CHS to three state team championships and four regional titles during his prep career ... also an academic standout named a four-time Scholar Athlete at CHS, member of AP Academy and graduated with an advanced honors diploma and ranked in the top-five of his class.

JUNIOR TENNIS

McDermott came to Boise as a four-star recruit according to the Tennis Recruiting Network ... ranked as the top prep player in the state of Nevada, No. 2-ranked singles player in the Intermountain Region and was been ranked as high as No. 120 in the United States Tennis Association’s national rankings ... received the USTA Sportsmanship Award in 2015 for Nevada ... competed at the No. 1 spot for the 2015 Intermountain National Team, Boys 18s ... played at the National Hard Courts in Kalamazoo for Boys 16s and 18s.

ACADEMICS

Majoring in pre-medical studies ... four-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and two-time ITA Scholar Athlete, both for maintaining 3.5 or better GPA.
