Broncos Claim Five Event Titles on Saturday

Boise State picks up victories from distance, middle distance and hurdlers.
NAMPA, Idaho- The Boise State track and field teams notched five event titles, Saturday at the Ed Jacoby Invitational and Multis.
On the women's team, MaLeigha Menegatti won the 800 meter run, while Alexis Fuller set a new career best in the 1000m with a time of 2:45.67. Dafni Georgiou also continued her undefeated streak in the 60m hurdles, claiming the title with a time of 8.67 in the final to win by 13-hundreths of a second.
For the men, Ahmed Muhumed placed first in the mile (4:13.38), and Jacob Grinwis battled hard on the last lap of the 1000m to earn a first-place finish.
Boise State put together a strong showing in the men's mile, as the Broncos finished with three top-five finishers. Muhumed led a 1-3-4 finish for the Broncos, and was followed by Leif Everson (4:17.67) and Miler Haller (4:17.78).
The Broncos were also able to pick up two third place finishes from Kristie Schoffield in the women's 1000 meter run with a time of 2:48.44, and from Abigail Dargan in the women's triple jump (11.79m / 38-8.25).
Georgiou, Menegatti, Schoffield and Kelly Moodry teamed up on Boise State's third place 4x400 relay team, finishing in 3:56.01. Olivia Johnson finished third in the women's mile (5:05.01), while Baylee Dodd took fifth in the shot put with a season best of 12.60m (41-4.25).
In his first meet wearing the Blue and Orange, mid-year signee David Pierce took fifth in the men's 200m (22.34) while also running 7.19 in the prelims of the 60m. Bryce Kirby ran 6.88 to post the second-fastest time in the prelims of the 60m to advance to the final.
Ryan Cavinta (22.35) and Cameron Wrout (23.47) both won their heats of the 200m.
After competing at home for the first three meets of the season, Boise State will split to Seattle, Wash. and Albuquerque, N.M. next weekend. The Bronco distance and middle-distance runners will compete at the UW Open in Seattle (Jan. 25-26), while the sprinters and field athletes will compete at the New Mexico Collegiate Team Invitational on Saturday.
