Karagozoglu Wins Consolation Final at Idaho State Fall Invite

POCATELLO, Idaho - Boise State freshman Kemal Karagozoglu swept a pair of matches Sunday to win the consolation singles title of the Bengals flight at the Idaho State Fall Invitational. Meanwhile, Kyryll Kryvchun reached the Black flight final before falling.
Karagozoglu battled through the consolation bracket this weekend to win his flight's consolation championship. On Sunday he defeated Montana's Josh Watkins in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 during his semifinal match, then dominated Idaho State's Kylar Hartman 6-0, 6-0 to win the Bengals flight consolation title. On the weekend he went 3-1 overall.Â
Kryvchun — the No. 1 seed in the flight — was one of two Broncos to reach the semifinals of the Black flight along with senior Wyatt DeMulling — the No. 4 seed. Kryvchun won his semifinal contest after rallying from a set down to beat Idaho State's Lukas Ridemar 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5). Meanwhile, DeMulling fell in the semis to Weber State's Chris Van Wyk 6-4, 6-7(2), 1-0 (10-7).Â
In the Black flight's championship match Van Wyk defeated Boise State's Kryvchun 6-3, 6-4. Kryvchun finished the tournament at 2-1, DeMulling went 1-1.
Blake Bayldon reached today's semifinals of the Orange draw where he faced ISU's Gary Rendek. Bayldon played hard but came up short by a 6-3, 6-4 score.Â
